MUSIC TOGETHER® MIXED AGES (0-4 years old, with parent or caregiver)
Weekly 45-minute classes include songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play.
Caregivers don't need to have any musical knowledge to enjoy the class. Musicians and those who can't carry a tune both enjoy the class and love the music. Even though Music Together® songs are recorded and sung primarily in English, families need not speak English to benefit from the program. Our common language is music and movement. Children benefit from the musical experience even if English is not the language they hear at home.
Each trimester you enroll in a Music Together class, you will receive an illustrated songbook, two CD, and a code giving you access to Music Together's brand-new Family Music Zone®. There, you'll be able to download the songs from the songs collection and explore fun content created just for you.
A Music Together class is:
-
A community of families sharing songs, instrument play, rhythm chants, and movement activities in a relaxed, playful, non-performance oriented setting.
-
Music learned through developmentally appropriate activities that support and respect the unique learning styles of the very young children.
-
Infants, toddlers, and preschoolers participating at their own levels in family-style classes of mixed ages.
-
Parents and caregivers contributing to the enrichment of their child's music environment-regardless of their own musical abilities.
-
A new song collection every semester for three years, featuring great arrangements of original and traditional songs in a wide variety of tonalities, meters , and cultural styles.
RHYTHM KIDS® BY MUSIC TOGETHER® (4-8 years old, adult's presence optional)
Designed specifically for children ages 4 to 8, these active classes tap into how children this age are wired to learn, with music games, animal rhythm stories, and lots of stomping-flying-climbing fun.
In class, students start learning to compose, choreograph, and conduct as they play—and play with!—djembes, other percussion instruments and, of course, their own voices and bodies.
Each week, your child will drum, sing, move, and play to rhythms inspired by musical traditions around the world, from West African Gahu, to Japanese Taiko, to Brazilian Samba, to name a few. As they learn to think and create like a musician, they’ll also gain valuable skills they’ll take to the elementary school classroom (and beyond!): self-expression and self-confidence, focus, leadership, cognitive flexibility, and more.
MUSIC TOGETHER® BABIES (0-8 months, with parent or caregiver)
Babies love music. This will come as no surprise to you if you’ve ever soothed your newborn to sleep with a lullaby or bounced them to the beat of your favorite song. But did you know your son or daughter is also a natural music-maker? It’s true: We are each born equipped to respond to music from a remarkably early age. There is a lot you can do to nurture your new little musician— even if you don’t think of yourself as a “musical” person. Making music together from the very beginning will lead to a lifetime of shared musical enjoyment for both you and your child.
The Music Together® Babies Class will start you on the path to becoming a musical family. Specifically designed for infants eight months and younger, this one-semester introduction to Music Together allows babies to embrace, enjoy, and express their inborn musicality. In your weekly class, you will spend forty-five music-filled minutes singing, dancing, and playing with your child, all in the company of other new parents and guided by an early childhood music specialist. You’ll learn how your child is developing musically and how you can support this growth at home. Plus, you’ll leave with lots of ideas on how to play and bond musically together and infuse music into your baby’s everyday life.
